What I like about you!

Judy Trapp

Judy, Judy, Judy... where do I start? I guess I'll go back to the beginning - my beginning.

Judy knew me before I knew Judy. She took care of me in the church nursery at Ridgecrest (Greenville). She loved on me just as she loved on all the other little babies that have come through that nursery for 30+ years. And that is a LOT of babies. She wiped our noses and our rears, snuck us snacks when our mothers were of the opinion that we shouldn't have sugar till we were in high school, and she taught us how to adjust to life away from mom. -I have recently learned what a really great thing that is for a baby to know. :-)

Ok, now fast forward to high school with me... Judy and her mom (Junie) paid for me and my siblings to go to Falls Creek (youth camp) every year. It was important to them that we to go to church camp. They wanted to give us an opportunity to learn about Christ in a camp setting. It made them happy to know that Mom and Dad wouldn't have to stretch the budget too much to get us there.

Between high school and now there have been many things that Judy has done for me. No telling what she has done for other people that I am unaware of.

It is really fun to get to take my boys to the same nursery I grew up in and to hand over my sons to the same woman who mom handed me to many years ago. Judy loves my boys. It is a blessing to me to see her eyes light up when she sees us coming.

Who does that?

Who genuinely gets excited to see a two-year-old?

A nine-month-old who is teething?

Judy does.

I know because I see it in her eyes.

She loves.

As Jesus loves.

"Feed my lambs" -she has.

Now, for the part I've been waiting for! Since Mike has started deploying, Judy -every time she sees me, gives me "Date money." Every time I'm in town she sends me home with cash to go out with my sweety on. She will slip some money into my hand and say, "This is for you to go on a date." I know better than to say no.

So I take it and go on a date.

Last time I was in, she wasn't expecting me. Judy didn't have any money on her.

She said:
"When is Mike deploying next?"
"In about a month," I say.
"Oh, then you two will need to go on a date. I don't have any money today, but I'll mail you some"

Sure enough.

Here's what I got in the mail.

It reads: "Have a great date! Love Judy

Just wanted everyone to know how great Judy is. Can I get any "Amens" from you RBC folks?

One Year Old

I am officially the mom of a 1 year old and a 2 year old.

Scary.

Ty turned one on Wednesday. He is getting so old (sniff sniff).

His birthday party will be 11:30 on Saturday at Chuck E Cheese. I am about to make his birthday cake. It should look something like this:

We'll see. I'll put a picture of the cake on here when I am done.

More about Ty and his birthday and the cake and the party, later. I need to go utilize Ty's nap right now.
NEXT DAY....
Ok. I finished the cake:

Sadness

For the last few days I have been sad.

Sad about my friends who are sad.

My friends who have recently lost their babies.

I know things like this have been happening for, well since the beginning of sin. That is when death entered the world. But the last month has been plagued with miscarriages. Last time I checked it was 1 out of every 3 or 4 pregnancy would be miscarried.

I understand that it happens, but I am sad.

I wish I could be used by our gracious God to minister to these women more. I want to show love and compassion -as Christ would, to those who hurt and mourn for their child. Yet, there's just not a lot I can do. And if there is more that I can do, I don't know what it is. If I knew I'd do it.

But what?

All I know right now is to be faithful to pray for my friends. I hope you will join me.

Here are their names:

News

Good news.

We were able to use up those three boxes of Christmas Kleenex that I bought last week at 75% off.

Bad news.

Caroline (my sis) has a bad cold.

Good news.

Caroline came on Tuesday and stayed with Mike and I for a little visit. It was good to see here -as always. We missed each other over Christmas, I was in NH and she was in Turkey.

Bad news.

The boys were sickish for several of those days and were fussy. Jack had one late evening of coughing -so much so that he vomited. It was bad. We had finally put a movie on after a long day of hanging out with slightly ill boys. Jack came and watched most of it with us as we tended to his cold. Poor kid.

Good news.

The had that Caroline and Lawson bought for Jack in Turkey fits! And he loves it. He wore it yesterday on a wagon ride. He wore it to MDO. He wore it to the park.

Bad news.

If I write much more I will be late for chuch.

Bye.

Stanley Thomas

Today Jack was downstairs saying "Stanley Thomas, Stanley Thomas..." and I couldn't figure out how he knew to put Stan's first and middle name together. I hadn't taught him everyone's middle name, so imagine my surprise when he said, not just Stan, but Stanley and then Thomas...

Well, as I get closer to the bottom of the stairs I see that he is playing with his "Thomas the tank engine trains." The two in his hands: Stanley and Thomas.

Not talking yet.

I noticed the other day that Ty -about to turn one, doesn't talk.

At all.

When Jack was almost one he said, "Ahh-choo" (Like you are sneezing).

Mike would say "ahh, ahh, ahh..." and Jack would finish "chooooo"

It was cute.

Jack would also say "Da-Da."

I felt a little bad for Ty being behind Jack at this age (I know that you shouldn't compare kids, but I know Ty is plenty smart to figure this out. I just hadn't been working with him like I should.)

So.

The next morning, I picked up Ty when he woke up and hugged him and all that other mushy stuff. Then he, Jack and I started to head downstairs.

I said, "Ty, do you want a ba-ba?" (Bottle)

"Ty, say 'ba-ba.' "

"Ty, say 'ba-ba.' "

"Ty, if you want a bottle, say 'ba-ba.' "

Jack, observing all of this, looked up at me and said, "Snack-snack."

I laughed and Jack got his breakfast.

Random pictures, Ok, I'm just trying out my new camera.

New Year's Eve.
Sparkling Apple, Pear, and Cranberry.
All still unopened.
And a bowl of ice cream.
Check out my new ice cream spoons!
I just think she is adorable.

We are going to try this book out this year and see if it helps.

Stay posted!

Hannah, thanks for the mug!

A great Christmas CD. I bought it after Christmas for $5 at Lifeway.

I noticed this year that most of my Christmas music was about fun in the snow and everything being merry and bright...

I wanted some music to help me worship my savior. This is good.

A Very Boshart Christmas

I forgot to take my camera to the Ellis family Christmas, so I have no photos. Hannah gave me all of these from the Boshart bash. I hopfully will get some from New England soon.

For now though, enjoy these.

Christmas Gifts

A trash can, a vacuum, a disposal, an ash vacuum, automatic garage doors.

No, not a list of things you might need to buy when building your vacation home in the Rocky's.

No this is a list of the top gifts received by Boshart women in 08.

What?

Yes.

Emily got a new trash can to replace the one in her kitchen -the fancy kind that the lid pops up when you step on the pedal. Her first one broke about 5 years ago.

I got a brand new irobot roomba -a vacuum cleaner and I LOVE IT! Ever household should have one of these.

Mom got -for the first time, two disposals for Dad to install under the kitchen sink. It was about time, seeing as how they have been in that house for... 27 years.

Grandmother Boshart got an ash vacuum to clean out her fireplace. No more shoveling for her!

Mom also got the garage door openers. Yay. They used to have some on the house, but one broke 15 years ago and the other ..eh.. maybe 7 or 8 years ago.

This is how you KNOW you are middle class.

-The above 'necessities' are expensive enough to have to be given as a gift, but not so expensive that you never get one at all.

Just thought that was funny.
